TruepillThe platform, which helps other companies provide diagnostics, telehealth services and prescriptions, has hit its fourth strike of the year.

The layoffs affected 65% of existing employees in engineering, human resources, design, IT and finance groups, the sources said. The resignation is two months after the last round. That affected about a third of the company, or 175 people.

One employee, who spoke to TechCrunch on condition of anonymity, said he was told in a 1:1 call with management that it was “no longer sustainable due to economic conditions.” Severance is mentioned but HR has yet to reach the employee for further details.

“[The company said] He hoped there would be no strike after the August round,” the source said. “[Leadership said that] Investors have made some tough choices for the company to extend its financial runway, but we’re in good shape now.

A company-wide all-hands-on previously scheduled for this week has been bumped to next week, the source added.

In April, Trupil discontinued its prescription drug for ADHD amid growing concerns about digital health. The service disruption affected employees at an adult ADHD treatment company that Trupil recently acquired. According to reports, Trupil was the preferred pharmacy partner of Cerebral, whose employees felt pressured to drug their customers.

In June, Viswanathan confirmed layoffs of an additional 15% of employees, affecting 150 people. In the letter, Viswanathan said the company was “focused on defining a new category in healthcare and growing high revenues,” but what’s important is that the company is “operating with new financial discipline and prioritization that will ensure the longevity of Truepill for both our customers and our team.”

In August, Truepill’s entire UK team was laid off, as well as a significant portion of the virtual pharmacy platform’s product team, sources told TechCrush. The data group has also been impacted, with the company’s diagnostic and telehealth divisions – its core services – only marginally supported going forward.

Today’s layoffs affect a number of teams, including the support engineering team tasked with picking up the work of the UK team following their departures.

Trupil did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
