Norman – The Oklahoma football team’s six-game winning streak and eight-game unbeaten streak were snapped by a narrow 2-1 loss at Texas Tech on Sunday at John Crain Field.

The Sooners (7-3-2, 2-1-0 Big 12) outscored the Red Raiders 12-8 in the playoffs, outscored Tech (5-3-5, 1-1)-2 in conference play, 8-1. OU found the back of the net twice to stop the loss.

“I am really proud of this victory for the team,” said the head coach Mark Carr. “We put together some good comebacks and at the end of the day you thought it was going to happen again, but it came with two opportunities where Tech took over and capitalized on our mistakes.

“We responded well in the second half, I thought we were the better team there, we created chances but we weren’t done yet. Every game in this league is close, but you can be really proud of our response. You see a team now. A style of responding, working, competing. Our focus now. We turn to Bedlam and look forward to that.

In the 15th minute, Ashleigh Williams put the Red Raiders back on top. After a cross was blocked by the Sooners, OU’s clearing attempt found the feet of Williams, who slipped past the OU backline inside the 18-yard box.

Tech was able to capitalize on a corner kick in the 28th minute. Gisele Kozarski took the corner kick and was able to find Hannah Anderson for a header to put TTU on top.

The Sooners fought back in the second 45, outscoring the Red Raiders 6-0 in the second half. In the 84th minute, OU was able to go out with Tech’s goal scored by technology. Bri Amos. From the secondary cross Leonie WeberAmos leaped to meet the ball in the six yard box and almost beat Tech’s Elise Anderson to the right side of the goal with her touch.

Hot man Morganne Eikelbarner OU led the way, with Amos making four tackles, including two on goal. With seven Sooners taking shots in the game, OU’s defense limited Tech to just eight shots and no punts in the second 45.

Hot man Olivia Ramey He gave up a season-high two goals and made two saves in the game. Ramey’s first loss of her freshman campaign moved her record to 6-1-0.

The Sooners will look to bounce back when the Bedlam Series comes to Norman on Thursday night. First touchdown is set for 7 pm CT at John Crane Field and the game will be shown on ESPN+. Tickets are available at SoonerSports.com/tickets and at the door on game day.
