Johnson County Public Health (JCPH) It is pleased to announce three new clinics offering its services. Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) North Liberty and Coralville. WIC is a nutrition education and food assistance program for pregnant, lactating, and postpartum women and children up to age five. WIC can help families access other essential resources, such as doctors, dentists, and medical insurance. I-Smile services are offered at these clinics to children and pregnant women, including dental check-ups, fluoride varnish, education and referrals to the dentist.
JCPH is providing WIC clinics throughout Johnson County to improve access to services for county residents, particularly where transportation is a barrier. “We now analyzed the addresses of families receiving WIC and Medicaid-eligible families to identify where they live and clinic sites that cover these clusters. We think this will help families on WIC and also attract families who have never been on WIC because of transportation issues,” said Chuck Dufano, Johnson County WIC Coordinator.
