Manhattan, Kansas – K-State and Texas Tech went toe-to-toe on Thursday night at Buzzer Family Park, but a late second-half Red Raider surge sent the visitors to a 1-0 victory. In Big 12 action, K-State’s overall record dropped to 5-8-2 and 1-4-1, while Texas Tech improved to 7-3-5 and 3-1-2 in the league.
How did it happen?
– K-State and Texas Tech finished the night with 11 shots apiece. The Wildcats only saw field goal attempts while the Red Raiders managed five in the frame.
– In the 78th minute, Texas Tech scored what would be the game-winning goal. Tech’s Elise Anderson played in a cross from the right side of the field that found the head of Peyton Parsons.
– Parsons inadvertently throws the ball back to Anderson. Anderson crossed again and found the head of Ashleigh Williams, who deflected the ball inside the left post to score her seventh goal of the season.
– K-State had two opportunities after the second half, as Caylee Thornhill found Ada Anderson On a pair of crosses. Anderson’s attempts went just wide, the first missing the narrow left corner and the second over the bar in the center of the frame.
