For the first time in over three weeks, the Virginia Tech football team returns to Lane Stadium for a game against ACC Coastal Division foe Miami (Fla.) this Saturday, Oct. 15.

Get ready for game day with five things to know for the Hokies’ matchup with the Hurricanes.
1. Wear maroon. This year’s Saturday tournament serves as the team’s annual Maroon Effect game in conjunction with the Virginia Tech Undergraduate Student Senate. 2. He is coming home on campus. Tech alumni are returning to Blacksburg this week for several homecoming festivities. The Homecoming Parade is set for Friday night at 7 p.m., and will be led by grand marshal and Olympian Kristy Castlein (’10) through the campus and downtown along Washington Street Main Street and the Alumni Mall. At 8.45pm, a Spirit Parade will take place on Dralefield, followed by a parade featuring live music and games before the fireworks display.
Bimmer Way will be closed for the parade from 6:15 pm to 7:15 pm, and Lot 2 will also be closed. Lot 1 is still accessible from the Washington Street entrance. Fans are invited to attend the Tech men’s soccer game Friday night at Thompson Field at 5 p.m. Admission is free.
Homecoming alumni tailgate Saturday morning opens at 8:45 a.m. Registration is $10 in advance and $15 day of and includes food, beverages and Homestead Cream ice cream. Guests will enjoy lawn games, music, a petting zoo, inflatables and more.
Halftime of Saturday’s football game featured a special Homecoming event that featured a performance by the Marching Virginians and a parade of dignitaries and this year’s homecoming court.
3. There’s a lot going on in Hockey Village. Set to open at 9 a.m. on Saturday mornings, Hockey Village will have something for everyone to experience before kicking off. There will be live music from the Jared Stout Band and plenty of agriculture-related activities, hosted by the Virginia Farm Bureau, Mascot Grills and more. Both the Tech lacrosse and softball teams will be signing autographs from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
4. Hokie Walk and March to Victory. Be there to greet the 10:10 a.m. hockey walk down Beamer Way and join the March Virginia and Tech Spirit team as they make their way from the MV practice field in Lot 5 to Lane Stadium. Lane Stadium gates will open at 10:30
