TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – A North Mississippi teenager recently returned from a trip and a life experience. We caught up with the Tupelo High School student who walked the runway at Fashion Week in New York City.
Hailey Spradling, 16, has a full schedule. Tupelo High School Juniors have extracurricular activities and a full schedule of extracurricular activities. She is also a pure international junior teen for Mississippi.
In that role, Hayley participates in community service projects, such as the recent celebrity wait at Harvey for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
And a few weeks before the St. Jude fundraiser, Hayley was working the runway during New York Fashion Week.
“I love modeling, I love everything, I’ve got a great passion in it, I love doing the stage,” Hayley said.
As the title holder of the Pure International pageant, Hayley was invited to New York for Fashion Week, a semi-annual series of events where international fashion collections are shown to buyers, the press and the public.
Hayley says she learned a lot about modeling and fashion shows during her week-long trip.
“When you’re at fashion shows, there’s a lot of unknowns, it’s chaotic and a lot of things can go wrong and so I was waiting backstage, I was wearing my first show, which was Jonathan Cain and Mr. “Renee came up to me and said, ‘Change,’ and I said, ‘What am I changing into, so I can walk through three shows instead of two,'” Hayley said.
He had time to see the sight, and Hayley’s photo was even on a billboard in Times Square.
“It was a shock, my mum knew about it but she forgot to tell me about it until we got there and I was like, what? It didn’t even feel like real life. I love Times Square, it’s magical, it’s fun, and you never know what it’s like until you’re in the middle of Times Square,” Hayley said.
Inspired by her mother, Dana, Haile sees modeling, performances and fashion shows as a way to promote her platform “Faith for Fosters”.
“I go to orphanages and foster homes in my area and I take supplies that they need, school supplies, books and so on. I grew up in a broken home, and my mom was adopted, and hearing stories from my mom and thinking about how lucky I am to have such an amazing mom and where I would be without my mom made me think. .
Haile is looking forward to bringing joy to raising children through her platform and preparing for her major pageant for Pure International South Region early next year.
The South Regional Tournament is tentatively scheduled for February in Tupelo.
