to eat – Miznon

As someone who is not interested in cooking/cutting and cooking in general, I am always prepared for a restaurant. Run by Israeli chef Eyal Shanai, Miznon focuses on abundant Tel Aviv-inspired pitas and a sense of spiciness. I visited the branch in Paris a few months ago and despite the same nervous approach, the new Notting Hill branch was a comparatively calmer experience – the incomprehensible noise and French sophistication of the streets of West London was absent.
The menu is vaguely intimidating – printed in comic sans and full of humor – but the food is a magical combination of things – fast, tasty and affordable. Particular highlights were the whole roasted cauliflower (a signature dish that’s been posted all over Instagram) and any magical crunch in a bowl of deep-fried banana caramel goodness. A special shout out has to go to the chicken pita. Was it tahini? Was it tzatziki? I have no idea, but it sure beats the dried curries and cartons of soup waiting in my fridge.

loving Seungjin Young

Continuing to feed off the current interior obsession, the instagram browser recently featured a sizeable bubblegum pink perfection by Sengjin Young’s balloon chair. The Seoul-based artist specializes in sculptural seating that scratches the Barbie girl itch in my mind and takes me back to a childlike state of wonder. While I would love to have one in every color, it’s the Peptobismal Pink iteration that caught my eye. A girl can dream…

the following – @accidentalinfluencer and @double3xposure

Twins from Atlanta, Molly and Reese post the perfect trifecta of fashion, food and interiors. A lot of mid-length skirts and mid-century furniture combined with a split pout seem to save their posts about each. Influencers (accidentally or not) recently walked Gucci’s twin extravaganza and looked day-to-day dressed in gorgeous outfits, posing for photos with Margiela bags and eating perfectly fried eggs. This week I’m shining the spotlight on the new collection of fashion brand Aeliza, whose latest mission statement encourages us to ‘think bigger’. With eye-catching logos and individual-focused campaigns, Aeliza creates long-lasting pieces that encourage us to wear our individuality on our chests. By encouraging you to keep clothing that has a personal connection to you, the pieces are sure to last longer and be worn again and again. I just got my hands on the black hoodie and I know it will be in my regular rotation for a while.

to read – My vacation and vacation year
If you’re looking for a book to get you out of a reading slump, I highly recommend getting a copy of Otessa Moshfegh’s ‘Holiday and My Year Off’. In the year Set in New York City in 2000, the unnamed protagonist takes herself to bed for an entire year, and I quickly finished the book in two days.

Using: Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk Push Lashes! Mascara
No wonder country romances are complete without the grail beauty product. Charlotte Tilbury’s pillow talk I can’t leave without yelling push lash! If you want to change your beauty routine, brown mascara.

put on ATIKA Vintage
Living near Brick Lane means avoiding the purchase of a wine or two is a daily struggle my soul must fight. However, few shops in this wine mecca appeal to me like ATIKA. The 6,000 SQFT, five-room, two-story store is a playground for anyone looking to fill a hole in their backyard, and in a recent bid to stave off those pesky January blues. I picked up a pair of black combat pants and a classic Sergio Tacchini tee, both of which had already been worn to the office during the week’s flip. Thankfully, my wine cravings were reasonably satisfied, although, the temptation to return to ATIKA on a Sunday afternoon might not be something I could resist.

Listening: Famous people’s book club
We live in 2023, a podcast-saturated society, and wading through endless medium options can be frustrating. As such, only a very select few make it into the regular audio rotation. However, New York comedians Claire Parker and Ashley Hamilton’s Celebrity Memoirs Book Club have become an integral part of my listening habits, a stimulating discussion of all things celebrity memoir that now accompanies my nightly routine of Wind Down. Everyone from The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Garcel Beauvais, Island of loveMolly-Me and acting titan Will Smith put their writing careers under Parker and Hamilton’s microscope and their comments never miss a beat.

put on The son of July
I love wearing fun jewelry to spice up an outfit. My July baby rings have become my go-to for almost everything I wear. I’m always scrolling through their New In pages to check out their latest designs and I’m never disappointed.

Using: Rose Inc. Blues
I feel like no one is talking about Rosie Huntington-Whiteley’s beauty brand Rose Inc. I bought one of the blushes based on a makeup artist recommendation and it’s simply incredible. It gives my skin such a nice natural glow which is essential to look like a corpse in winter.

Visit: Saatchi Gallery
I recently went to the Saatchi Gallery for their latest exhibition The New Black Vanguard featuring some of the most amazing contemporary black fashion photographers. The photography is incredible and ranges from high fashion to family portraits and it was great to see such young creativity celebrated. A must see!

Scroll: Lara Violet
I’m always finding new beautiful girls to be obsessed with, and the mainstay of my obsession is Lara Violetta. She channels her looks by sharing her super chic style on YouTube and her flawless Instagram feed. Her YouTube videos document her life in Paris, where she flips from exhibitions to fancy dinners in dreamy designer suits. Her collection, which I’ve been rocking lately, features crushed silver tabby boots and a Margiela soft bag. I’m not a criminal, but Lara Violetta is definitely on my loot list.

Edible: Nimphet students
The Nymphet Alumni Podcast is a real one for the online community. But that’s why I can’t pop on my headphones as soon as I see a new episode is out. Bringing together fashion and the internet – two of my favorite domains – Nimfet’s student girls open up trends like ‘Blocket’ and ‘Russian Bimbocore’ through the lens of cultural criticism. I really enjoy thinking about all these micro trends in a more academic way, but maybe that’s just because I want to put my Arts degree to good use.

Listening: Cranberry – Everyone else is doing it, so why can’t we?
The Cranberries’ 1993 album Everyone else is doing it, so why can’t we? It was an instant classic when it was released, and I’ve been listening to No Tomorrow this week. The other day I was researching the vocal technique used by singer Dolores O’Riordan – my frame of reference for most things on TikTok. In Gaelic Celtic tradition, mourning for the dead is called ‘kinning’. I’ve always found tunes like “Linger” and “Sunday” incredibly melancholic – and this info opened my eyes to why. stab him!
