Tokyo, Japan – Verizon Business has been selected to manage Astellas Pharma Inc’s (Astellas) global network infrastructure. The network transformation will enable Astellas to use advanced technologies to help reduce drug development timelines, reduce healthcare costs and generate new revenue opportunities for Japan Pharmaceutical International.
Headquartered in Tokyo, Japan, Astellas is a global pharmaceutical company engaged in the research, development, production and marketing of new medicines “Standing at the forefront of healthcare transformation, turning innovative science into VALUE for patients”. The company employs 14,000 people worldwide.
Recognizing that digital transformation is a key driver of its business growth, the company is seeking a global partner to transform its entire global technology infrastructure to build, design and operate a next-generation secure network. Specifically, Astellas was looking for a scalable and predictable platform capable of managing tens of thousands of devices and endpoints in a virtual multi-source environment across Astellas 70+ global locations.
Verizon’s relationship with Astellas spans more than a decade. In the year In 2016, Astellas successfully deployed Verizon’s Secure Cloud Interconnect (SCI) solution to provide high-bandwidth secure connectivity to Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure cloud services. Verizon’s current payment includes building and deploying Astellas’ global integrated network with full managed services including managed wide area network, local area network, managed security service (MSS), secure gateway, zero trust network access and unified communications and collaboration such as Service.
