Hollywood, Fla. – The child welfare test is an annual back-to-school ritual to ensure that they are growing and thriving and getting the proper vaccinations.
“Our mobile health center is in the community. We break down on the weekends and give immunizations to the uninsured during the week, as well as school physicals and health exams,” said Jennifer Reilly Miller, director of nursing.
Current vaccinations for children entering daycare, nursery, preschool, and kindergarten include measles, mumps, and rubella, or MMR, chickenpox, varicella vaccine, diphtheria, tetanus, and pertussis combination vaccine, or DTaP, polio vaccine, pneumococcal vaccine, and hepatitis-B. Vaccination.
Children ages 10 to 11 should receive a tetanus booster and meningitis vaccine to protect against meningitis.
And last but not least, the flu vaccine is recommended every year for both children and adults.

“By not vaccinating, you’re putting yourself at risk for almost certainly preventable diseases. Many of these are very chronic in nature and really affect the overall health and well-being of children,” Reilly-Miller said.
There are free vaccination programs in both Miami-Dade and Broward counties.
9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 13 at Memorial Primary Care Center at 4105 Pembroke Rd. In Hollywood.
8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Friday, August 12, at Broward Health System’s Cora E. Brynon Family Health Center, 200 NW Seventh Ave., Fort Lauderdale and Pompano Children’s Primary Care Center, 601 W Atlantic Blvd., Pompano Beach. Vaccinations are free and physicals are $30.
UHealth also has a Children’s Mobile Clinic that provides free medical services for children, including annual physicals, exams, shots/immunizations, screenings and well visits.
