Dakar, August 20/2010 Health officials in the Democratic Republic of Congo are investigating a suspected Ebola case in the east of the country, the World Health Organization announced on Saturday.
In the year A 46-year-old woman died on Monday in the city of Beni, the epicenter of an Ebola outbreak that killed nearly 2,300 people from 2018 to 2020.
She was initially treated for other illnesses but developed symptoms consistent with Ebola, the World Health Organization said in a statement.
Congo’s dense tropical forests are a natural reservoir for the virus, which causes fever, body aches and diarrhea.
The country has recorded 14 outbreaks since 1976. Last month, it declared an end to an outbreak in northwestern Congo that killed five people.
