New Bismarck business in Kirkwood Mall

BISMARCK, ND (KFYR) – We may be a long way from France, but a new Bismarck business is serving up a French delicacy. So if you’re looking for a place to treat your sweet tooth, The World of Macaron has plenty of gluten-free treats to choose from and just opened last week.

After Yana Lisa and her husband moved to North Dakota from Vinnytsia, Ukraine eight years ago, her love of baking grew, and she wanted to turn it into a business.

“I tried the macarons here, and decided that maybe I could serve fresh homemade macarons like a real French dessert,” says Jana Lisa, baker and owner of Macarons of the World.

The Macaron Kiosk is open Friday through Sunday 11:00am to 6:00pm at Kirkwood Mall, next to Auntie Annie’s Pretzels, and they are looking to extend their hours in the future.

After family and friends complimented her macarons, she knew it would be the perfect passion project. There are now seven flavors at the kiosk, and she rotates with an exciting new flavor every month.

“I baked them for friends for a couple of years, and I tried different recipes and different fillings, and then I got used to it,” Lisa said.

She noticed that the only places she could find macarons in Bismarck were at TJMaxx and Costco, and she wanted to give residents a chance to try homemade gluten-free treats.

“I realized that the macaron market was not commercially available here, so I decided to give it a try,” says Lisa.
