The health of Warren City was good. If citizens did not drive in automobiles or streetcars or trains, they were less likely to be cut off by infectious diseases.

At a regular meeting of the City Board of Health, Health Officer GN Simpson stated that there were only three cases of typhoid in the first 8/2 months of 1923. The last case was reported on June 22.

The report of Mrs. Grace Burbank, the city health nurse, also showed the healthy condition of the citizens of Warren. A detailed list of her cases showed that none were contagious, and many of her calls were to help new mothers care for children, make social service checks, or get information for the Red Cross or other agencies.

Seventy-three calls were made to the disabled in July. 113 calls were made in July.

A dress code for the 1972-73 school year has been adopted for Champion Area Schools.

School administrators said students are expected to wear clean clothes. In addition, according to the purpose for which clothing items are designed, buttons are fastened, belts are fastened, and shirt tails are tucked in.

Girls were required to dress with an emphasis on modesty, neatness and good taste in their personal appearance. Slacks, pantsuits, pant dresses, maxi- and midi-skirts and skirts, gaucho pants and knickers were allowed. Tank tops were to be worn similar to shirts; All shirts are turned in except those with a square bottom. Sweatshirts, t-shirts, soccer jerseys, midriffs, blue jeans, shorts, Bermuda shorts, shorts and work pants are not permitted.

In determining the length of clothes and hair, a boy should consider cleanliness, hygiene, style, good taste and personal appearance. Shirts had to be buttoned and tucked unless they were squared at the bottom. Soccer jerseys, if worn, were stuck; Jeans had to be clean and ironed; Blue jeans that have been tied, washed or stitched are not allowed. Socks were to be worn with shoes at all times; Tanks to be worn with a shirt like a vest; And objectionable t-shirts or sweatshirts are not allowed.

A search for stolen items at a Hubbard Youngstown Road auto wrecking yard was halted Thursday.

Warren police went to 2020 Hubbard Youngstown Road Liberty to look for a safe that had been stolen from a Lowe’s Home Improvement store in Warren months earlier. They encountered a 55 gallon drum that was leaking noxious fumes.

Police called in personnel from the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency and the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification’s Environmental Enforcement Division. Warren Police Lt. Timothy Bowers said the agencies told police to stop digging because the liquid in the barrels could be a fire hazard.

Over several weeks, the Warren YMCA has seen nearly $50,000 in improvements, including the replacement of 30 windows and a major gym floor upgrade.

Rich Denamen, interim director, said all the windows on the first and second floors of the building were replaced.

We were in the process of doing a window campaign to get new windows. Whatever windows were sold, we used those dollars to make other improvements at the YMCA. he said.

All 30 windows will be sold, he said.

He said a grant from the Youngstown Foundation was used to renovate the large gymnasium floor.
