Take care of yourself. Protect your family. Protect your community. Plan to get your flu shot. Because this flu season overlaps with the Covid-19 pandemic, it’s especially important to get your flu shot this year. Beginning Monday, September 19, 2022, all veterans enrolled in the Western North Carolina VA Health Care System will have access to a free flu shot.
There are five chances to get your flu shot:
Option 1: Scheduled appointments. If you already have an appointment, you can get the flu shot at that time. It includes primary care, specialty care clinics, and community-based outpatient clinics (CBOCs) in Franklin, Hickory and Rutherford counties.
Option 2: When the patient is treated in the hospital. They may require a flu shot before leaving the hospital.
Option 3Flu Shot “Drive Thru” Clinic. At the Charles George VA Medical Center and Franklin CBOC, flu shots are available at select times (see chart below).
Option 4The flu shot “walk-in” clinic. Flu shots are available at the Covid Vaccination Clinic in Building 70, Room 123, Monday – Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm (9/19/22 – 11/18/22). Franklin, Hickory and Rutherford County Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs) also accept walk-ins 8:00 am – 3:00 pm.
Option 5: Community Care Network: After September 1, 2022, enlisted veterans (who received care through the VA or a community-based provider within the past 24 months) may receive a flu shot through the Community Care Network (CCN). CCN provides flu shots at no charge at retail contracted pharmacies or urgent care/ambulatory care locations (single visit). Examples of retail pharmacies are CVS Pharmacy, COSTCO Pharmacy, and Walmart Pharmacy.
We look forward to serving you and giving you your flu shot!
