Coming soon to downtown St. Petersburg, Enye, a specialty retail store featuring clothing and accessories made from African textiles, is set to open at 300 Beach Drive NE, Suite 111.
Born from the joint venture of Matipa Mutesemi and her sister Mercy Nyamangwanda, the brand Enye offers a range of products including clothing and accessories featuring prints from all parts of Africa.
Zimbabwean entrepreneur Mutsemi said that apart from launching a clothing line, he also launched a successful make-up brand, EnnYeEthnic Cosmetics, where most of the items in NE feature designs from Zimbabwe and other countries in the southern part of the continent.
Through Enye, Mutsemi fuses contemporary fashion with traditional African prints and designs to create her own unique style.
“They are mainly used for decorative purposes,” Mutsemi said of the symbols used in NE’s designs, adding that prints dedicated to the royal family and commemoratives were excluded from her honorific labels.
