In Bexar County, nearly 1 in 5 adults will experience a serious mental illness. The risk of developing mental illness has increased after the Covid-19 pandemic. As the COVID-19 pandemic has brought changes to our lifestyles, many of us have felt lonely, anxious or depressed, and with it, at times, uncertainty. The pandemic has changed daily activities, brought new financial pressures and highlighted social isolation, which has affected mental health.
But for many, access to care is difficult. Texas ranks last in the U.S. for access to mental health services.
For individuals facing mental health and substance abuse challenges, the Center for Health Care Services is here for you every step of the way. Parent, young or older, everyone’s mental health story is unique.
We present our innovative programs that change lives and restore dignity. From mental health counseling and substance use recovery to crisis intervention and more, we support you when you need it most.
That’s why the 20th Bexar County Behavioral Health and Wellness Conference connects people with meaningful information about mental illness, substance use disorders, overall health and wellness. You can connect with mental health providers and learn about resources from over 30 local partners. The conference will be held on Friday September 30 from 8am – 7pm at the Norris Convention Center in Park North Shopping Centre. In person and virtual sessions available! Register today!
