Saint Antonio – A popular South Side Mexican restaurant failed a health inspection in April, and when KSAT Investigates reporter Tim Gerber dropped by this week to find out what happened, the manager had no answers. He disappeared behind the kitchen door.
Taqueria La Tapatia
Taqueria La Tapatia, located in the 6700 block of South Flores Street, saw its previous score of 82 drop to 67, a failing grade, according to Metro Health.
The inspector found a long list of violations, including six repetitions.
They had to put food in a very hot cold container.
Knives stored on a knife rack had food debris on them.
Workers did not wash their hands when changing jobs and serving food. They washed their hands in the wrong sink.
Other workers were seen touching food with their bare hands.
In total, the inspector found 22 violations.
Gerber stopped by the restaurant this week to see what they had to say about the drastic drop.
The manager on duty seemed surprised when Gerber showed him the inspection report.
The manager went behind the kitchen door to review their records but never returned to answer any questions.
KSAT Investigators requested a copy of the re-examination report from Metro Health.
El Potosino Mexican Restaurant
El Potosino Mexican Restaurant, located in the 7200 block of San Pedro Avenue, received a 79 during an April inspection.
Raw beef is stacked above vegetables.
The inside of the ice machine was dirty.
The inspector observed a cook cracking raw eggs and then handling ready-to-eat food without changing gloves.
Employee medication was found stored near an accessible cooler.
Clean dishes still had food debris on them.
They also had to do a deep cleaning of the business.
Seoul Asian market
Seoul Asian Market, located in the 1000 block of Rittman Road, earned 85.
An employee had to dispose of several items of food in a very hot cooler. The inspector told them it had to be fixed before they could use it again.
There was a buildup of black residue in the ice machine.
Kimchi bowls are damaged.
It is necessary to remove dead insects.
The workers are reminded to wear hair masks, and the ventilation is required to be cleaned to remove dust and dirt.
