Sept 14 (Reuters) – Apple Inc ( AAPL.O ) plans to use improved Taiwanese chipmaker TSMC’s ( 2330.TW ) latest chipmaker technology in iPhones and Macbooks next year, Nikkei Asia newspaper reported on Wednesday.
The A17 mobile processor in the pipeline will be mass-produced using TSMC’s N3E chip manufacturing technology, which is expected to be available by the middle of next year, according to people familiar with the matter. (https://s.nikkei.com/3eMNG6i)
The A17 will be used in the premium entry in the iPhone line slated for release in 2023, he added.

Apple declined to comment, while TSMC did not immediately respond to Reuters’ request for comment.
The current iPhone model has the A15 processor chip and at a recent Apple event, the company said that the iPhone 14 Pro models will also have the same. Read more
The chipmaker controls 54% of the global market for contract-manufactured chips, supplying companies including Apple and Qualcomm Inc ( QCOM.O ).
