BREVARD COUNTY, Florida – The Independence Day celebration looks different this year. Due to the ongoing Covid-19 public health crisis, many fireworks and other events have been canceled across Florida.
With social distancing and other health measures still in place, health officials are urging people to take precautions if they plan to celebrate at home.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), fireworks-related injuries are at an all-time high on the Fourth of July.
They can cause serious injuries, including burns, lacerations, and eye contact with foreign objects.
It is important to ensure that everyone who celebrates fireworks is protected when dealing with materials that can be harmful if not handled properly.
To minimize injuries on one of the most dangerous days of the year, the CDC recommends the following safety tips:
