Biloxi, Miss. (WLOX) – Beach Family Health Center offered affordable life-saving tests to women on Saturday.

Doors opened at 10:00 a.m. with a line already forming out the door.

The medical team is celebrating the first ever Women’s Health Day by offering Pap smears and mammograms for just $25.

Nurse Practitioner Jada Vierling Hill said women started lining up hours before it opened, promising to keep the event going for years to come.

“So, as a women’s health nurse practitioner, we know that the earlier we can detect cervical and/or breast cancer, the better the outcome for these patients and the sooner we can get them to the health care they need. Either, you know, perform mastectomies, do chemo, or put them in the right provider to help us manage any of these problems if we find them,” she said.

Beach Family Health provided box lunches and messages on Saturdays. Vendors were on site, as well as a nutritionist with educational resources.
