
Houghton, Mich – Michigan Tech senior Blake Pattila was named the league’s CCHA Goaltender of the Month for January, the league announced Wednesday (Feb. 1). Pietila earned the honor for the second time this season and the fifth time in his career.
For January, Pietila went 6-1-1 with three shutouts while posting a 1.37 goals-against average and .947 save percentage. He leads the NCAA in shutouts, goals-against average and save percentage among goaltenders with five games played. The Hobey Baker and Mike Richter Award nominee was the CCHA Goaltender of the Week three times in January and was MVP of the Deseret Hockey Classic, leading the Huskies to 55 saves in 59 games.
Pietila leads the nation in shutouts (7), is third in save percentage (.929), and seventh in goals against average (1.94). He tied his Michigan Tech single-season shutout record with 17 this season.
No. 12 Michigan Tech is 18-7-4 overall and 11-5-4 in the CCHA. The Huskies will travel to Bemidji State to face the Beavers for the second time of the season. The puck drops at the Sanford Center on Friday at 8:07pm and on Saturday at 7:07pm.
