Boss Women Media, Amazon’s Black Business Accelerator (BBA) and Capital One team up to award $100K to Black female founders and inspire future entrepreneurs at the Black Girl Magic Summit, just in time for Black Business Month.
Boss Women Media’s Black Girl Magic Summit is returning for its fourth consecutive year of programming and is set to premiere on Prime Video on Saturday, August 27th at 2pm CST. The alliance partnered with the Amazon Black Business Accelerator (BBA) and Capital One to showcase inspiring talks with Black women entrepreneurs and leaders.
The panel sessions were pre-taped at Brigid Culler’s Blackbird House on July 26th in Los Angeles. Black female students from Howard Entertainment, an Amazon Studios-sponsored program, attended the meeting in person at Blackbird House and became a live audience. The women in attendance met with speakers and influencers, allowing for a full day of connections and discussions. Keynote speakers at this year’s summit include Alison Felix, Mina Harris, Aurora James and Amazon Series. HarlemMegan Good.
Founded in 2018 by Marty McDonald, Boss Women Media is an online membership and educational community. They create event experiences for women to connect through meetings, conferences and networking opportunities. The Digital Summit is dedicated to educating, empowering, and equipping Black women for more by sharing resources and stories and building a strong community of allies.
Capital One partnered with Boss Women Media for the Digital Summit, bringing together executives, community partners, finance and professional professionals to discuss financial security, career growth, increasing socioeconomic mobility, small business success and more.
“At Capital One, we recognize the powerful impact black women have on the workplace, economy and our communities. This year, we are honored to partner with Boss Women Media to open up inspiring conversations around career development, financial security and entrepreneurship,” said Teresita Richard, Vice President of Diversity, Inclusion and Membership at Capital One.
The partnership extends Capital One’s Impact Initiative, a multi-year investment in underserved communities and businesses that supports organizations that expand economic opportunity. Capital One Business will sponsor the Black Girl Magic Summit Pitch Competition in 2021, awarding $100,000 to three women-owned small businesses, starting with $50,000.
Boss Women Media also partnered with Tai Beauchamp, Lady Jade, Codie Oliver and Mattie James as brand ambassadors at the conference. Each of these influential women will host a watch party in their respective cities (Los Angeles, Dallas, and Atlanta) to promote the first phase of the summit and support women of color in their communities.
“I’m thrilled to be able to bring another year of great programming and content to Black Girl Magic Summit for women in the US and around the world. Amazon’s Black Business Accelerator is a critical partner for us. Their continued commitment to Black Women’s Empowerment allows us to bring dynamic speakers and experiences, and through Prime Video to any It makes people accessible. We’re excited for women of color everywhere to join us later this month on a journey of empowerment and evolution,” said Marty MacDonald, Founder and CEO of Boss Women Media.
