Tonight’s game is a little too close for comfort due to injuries, but Boston College women’s basketball will make another game with a 62-57 win over Georgia Tech.
Neither team had a particularly strong first half as Georgia Tech took a 12-9 lead into the second quarter. Despite only scoring 9 points in the first period, BC came out fighting in the second and won the game accordingly. The Eagles held Georgia Tech to just six points in the second quarter while scoring 18 points of their own and shooting 70% from the floor.
The Eagles took a 27-18 lead into halftime and held off Georgia Tech 16-12 in the third. Fouls and turnovers caught up to the Eagles in the fourth, and BC was over the limit before halftime. Georgia Tech scored 27 points to mount a valiant comeback, but it wasn’t enough and the Eagles came away with a 5-point win.
The big story tonight was the return of BC superstar Dontavia Wagoner, who was injured last month. Wagoner scored a team-leading 16 points in the return game and added 7 rebounds and a game-high 3 steals.
The Eagles now face Miami tomorrow at 8 p.m.
