The Events Industry Council (EIC), the global voice of the business events industry, has announced the recipients of its annual Global Awards, which celebrate and honor exemplary achievements and focus on leadership at all levels and areas of focus within the global business events industry.

FiftyForward receives grant to help bridge digital divide for older Tennesseans
FiftyForward has received $295,995 from the West End Home Foundation (WEHF) to help bridge the digital divide for Tennesseans age 60 and older living in Middle Tennessee.
FiftyForward was one of 30 nonprofit and governmental agencies that received grants ranging from $10,000 to $400,000.
“In our centers and programs, we have seen firsthand how older adults need access to technology to improve their lives,” Gretchen Funk, chief program officer for FiftyForward, said in a news release. “We are grateful to the West End Home Foundation for understanding this need, elevating awareness, and helping to make resources available to support our community. In addition, we are pleased to be working with the Nashville Adult Literacy Council to help bridge the digital divide together. Literacy, learning, and access to technology can create new futures and enhance lives. We are honored to be part of this effort to help bridge the digital divide.”
Nashville Entrepreneur Center, Vanderbilt University team up to offer valuation lab for founders, students
The Nashville Entrepreneur Center’s Project Healthcare program has announced its new partnership with faculty from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine’s Department of Health Policy and the Vanderbilt Owen Graduate School of Management, in launching the Health Valuation Lab, an independent study course designed for selected EC Project Healthcare companies, faculty, students and community industry experts. Participating students will be divided into teams and paired with a Project Healthcare company to provide valuation services in eight different areas: technology, market size/potential, competition, intellectual property, regulatory landscape, technical components, user evaluations and financials and reimbursement.
Ascension Saint Thomas executive receives national award for health care strategy
The Society for Health Care Strategy & Market Development (SHSMD), a professional membership group for health care marketers, communicators, planners and business developers of the American Hospital Association (AHA), has announced Ruth Portacci, vice president of strategy for Ascension Saint Thomas, as a recipient of its 2022 Leadership Excellence Award.
This award honors inspiring strategic leaders in health care marketing, communications/PR, planning or business development—individuals who are truly exemplars of the strategy professions and demonstrate a career of stellar achievement. Each recipient has excelled in the areas of innovation, enhancement of the strategy profession, career achievements and leadership abilities.
Ryman Hospitality Properties, Inc. announces reinstatement of quarterly cash dividend, provides operating update
Ryman Hospitality Properties announced a quarterly cash dividend of $0.10 per common share, to be paid on Oct. 17, 2022, to stockholders of record as of Sept. 30, 2022. The company’s new interim dividend policy is a minimum dividend of 100% of REIT taxable income annually, subject to the Board of Directors’ future determinations as to the amount of quarterly distributions and the timing thereof.

Hoppenstedt named Chief Operations and People Officer at SWFC
Patty Hoppenstedt is now the Chief Operations and People Officer for Southwestern Family of Companies (SWFC), a diversified, international conglomerate comprised of 19 companies. She is also a member of the company’s board of directors. Hoppenstedt joined SWFC in 2020 as the Vice President of Human Resources.

Mixed-income property in Nashville acquired to increase affordable housing, support veterans exiting homelessness
The Nashville/Davidson County CoC and Community Solutions, a nonprofit dedicated to ending homelessness, announced the acquisition of Glastonbury Woods. The 144-unit Nashville property will join a growing portfolio of mixed-income properties aimed at increasing affordable housing units and reducing veteran homelessness. These properties are harnessing an innovative housing and financing model used to support communities participating in Built for Zero, a movement of more than 100 communities working to measurably and equitably reduce homelessness.
Nashville Mayor John Cooper said in a news release, “Nashville is deeply committed to implementing a true housing-first model that will get our unhoused neighbors — in particular those who have bravely served our country — off the street and into stable housing, so they can begin rebuilding their lives. The new supportive permanent housing units created by this innovative development is an important step toward accomplishing that goal, and I’m grateful to the Nashville/Davidson County CoC, Community Solutions and all of the partners involved for making this worthy project happen.”
Construction complete on specialty bread and wine market in Germantown
Dowdle Construction Group announced construction is complete on Spread Market & Larder, a neighborhood market with a selection of grocery items, homemade bread, daily sandwiches and grab-and-go snacks, beer and cider.
The market is located at 1330 5th Avenue North in a 1920s home in Germantown that was converted into a retail space designed by Smith Gee Studio. The renovation included a 366-square-foot addition for a total of 1,988 square feet of space.
“Converting an older home into a commercial space presents challenges, especially when updating for current building standards while maintaining the historical aspects of the house,” Glynn Dowdle, Principal at Dowdle Construction Group, said in a news release. “The tenants took great care to preserve the house while converting it into a space where all its neighbors are welcome. This is a nice addition to the popular and ever-growing neighborhood, and it will provide Germantown with a unique stop for specialty food items.”

Bontrager brings three decades of banking experience, ranging from a de novo bank to a multi-state financial institution with $4 billion in assets.
