New research shows that edge computing is driving meaningful business and technical benefits
Denver, May 16, 2023 /PRNewswire/ — Better customer experiences, improved product and service quality, and increased productivity are some of the top business results experienced after investing in Darf solutions. In fact, in a new survey conducted by Lumen Technologies (NYSE: LUMN) and Intel and conducted by IDC, respondents indicated that they experienced double-digit improvements in these areas after moving applications and workloads closer to the edge of their networks.

More than half of the survey respondents (54%) are using edge solutions in production today, and 64% plan new edge investments within a year. The carrier/telco edge remains the primary deployment area for edge solutions. Respondents reported a 26 percent improvement in customer experience, a 23 percent increase in productivity, and a 22 percent improvement in product and service quality.

In addition to significant business benefits, respondents reported double-digit improvements in technical outcomes when deploying edge solutions. This includes improved security and data protection, increased automation productivity and better application performance.

Survey details:
- 735 US corporate decision makers at companies with 500 or more employees were interviewed.
- Respondents were in an information technology or functional technology role at the director level or above. All were well aware of their company’s edge strategy.
- 100 surveys were conducted in each of the following industries: financial services, manufacturing, technology/software development, media/entertainment/gaming, healthcare, retail, and public sector.
