Cecilie Bahnsen x ASICS at Paris Fashion Week SS23

For Cecile Bahnsen’s second Paris Fashion Week show, we were treated to more than a rainbow of dresses ready to twist, as the Copenhagen-based designer presented not one, but seven collaborations. ASICS Featuring the sneaker ASICS GEL-1130 and GEL-1090, the designer follows her previous team-up with Suicoke and inspired a signature design on these shoes: flowers.

Here, retro running vibes informed by ASICS’ past put a bold stamp on the sneakers, with a silver colorway hitting two major styles. BANSON then chooses to choose black and yellow colors on the GEL-1090 and ice blue and white shades on the GEL-1130, before covering both in an applique bouquet.

Flowers cut from the same material as the GEL-1090’s upper are placed on the delicate sole. Silver is a color not often found in the floral palette, so we created a collaboration that perfectly captures the spirit of both partners by appearing on the sneaker.

In the case of the GEL-1130, BANSON decorates the sneaker with a full spring green floral print (as well as orange and blue iterations), while the shoe looks like it’s immersed in a field of petals, or perhaps a plant pot, making the toe and heel work. To increase the so-called attachments.

Speaking about her collection, Bahnsen said, “This season I’ve been thinking a lot about how the girls in the studio and our communities wear our clothes. How to wear a dress on a rainy Tuesday morning or go to a party on a Saturday night to feel good. This informs not only the clothes, but also the place where the ASICS collaboration fits into the body of work – these are sports shoes designed for everyone, especially the morning run, when you work all day and party in the evening, and one pair. Shoes can see you all.

To lighten things up, several highly tailored pairs also hit the runway. Unrecognizable, Bahnsen appears to present the GEL-NIMBUS in silver, dressed in bright silver vases, another pair in all black and a final one in blue and white.
