MAYVILLE – The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration has awarded the Chautauqua County Department of Mental Hygiene an upgrade and renovation grant for a certified community behavioral health clinic in Chautauqua County. Starting Friday, the grant includes $1 million annually over four years. The department received a 2020 certified community behavioral health clinic through an early grant. This designation has had a positive impact on access to community clinics.

Certified community behavioral health clinics have dramatically increased access to mental health and substance use disorder treatment and expanded their capacity to address substance abuse problems. They have formed new partnerships with law enforcement, peer organizations, schools and hospitals to improve care, reduce readmissions and address health disparities.

“Our certified community behavioral health clinics are designed to support and advance our work to improve access to high-quality behavioral health services.” Chautauqua County Mental Health Deputy Director and Clinic Project Director Trish McClennan said. “In partnership with our community partners, CCBHCs are another step in strengthening Chautauqua County’s network of services.”

Chautauqua County will use the funds to improve access to community-based recovery services, expand mobile crisis teams with a youth specialty, and improve care coordination and peer specialist services. Funds for a collaborative, responsive, and accountable behavioral health system that values recovery, hope, goodness, respect, and well-being support this effort.

Chautauqua County has two CCBHC clinics at 200 E. Third St., Jamestown, NY 716-661-8330 and 60 Franklin Ave., Dunkirk, NY 716-363-3550. You can call them to learn more about the services offered and to schedule an appointment.
