Dean’s last competitive feat until tonight was finishing as the national runner-up in the 60m hurdles at the NCAA Indoor Championships. On Thursday, he clocked the second-fastest time in the nation in the 400m hurdles in 49.74 — the fastest time tied by Baylor’s Nathaniel Ezekiel (49.24). Dean took the heat, getting the highest “Q”.

Tech closed the evening in the men’s “B” 1500m Timothy Gregg And Paul Sherrill Each new set of PB symbols. Greg finished sixth (3:50.13), Sherrill ninth (3:50.93).
