The Texas Tech Red Raiders are coming off a disappointing season in which they finished 16-16 overall and 5-13 in Big 12 conference play. Tasked with improving their roster, they turned to the transfer portal as most college teams do these days. Last month, they picked up a big commitment from former Arizona State big man Warren Washington. Now it looks like they’re adding their former Washington teammate as well. Devan Cambridge, who was in the transfer portal announced According to Jon Rothstein at CBS Sports, he will commit to Texas Tech.
Devan Cambridge first entered the transfer portal and committed to Oregon before decommitting and eventually choosing to sign with Texas Tech. Last season against Arizona State, Cambridge had his best collegiate season statistically. He averaged 9.8 points and 5.4 rebounds per game while shooting 50.4 percent from the field, 33.3 percent from the three-point line and 65 percent from the free throw line. He was a regular starter, starting 35 of his 36 games in less than 27 minutes a game.
This will be Cambridge’s third team since entering the college’s final season of NCAA basketball. He began his college career at Auburn and was a regular contributor off the bench for three seasons. His starting role at Arizona State gave him a chance to blossom a little more. Now at Texas Tech, Cambridge brings an athletic frame with nimble scoring around the basket and will contribute from the get-go.
