Emilio Manuel Camus, director of the First Generation Student Success Center at Utah Valley University (UVU), has been selected as one of 22 Living Color Awards by Utah Business. The Living Color Awards highlight individuals in the community for a more just and inclusive future for Utah.

“It is humbling to be recognized as someone who is making a positive impact on equity, diversity and inclusion in Utah’s business landscape, especially given the accomplishments of the past four recipients,” Camus said. “I am so fortunate to be able to continue the work that so many have done before me; what a fitting responsibility to lead others along the path to make Utah a better place for our marginalized communities.”

As Director of the Center for First-Generation Student Success, Emilio is responsible for providing leadership development, peer and faculty mentoring, scholarships, access to resources and fun events for UVU’s first-generation students.

UVU has honored Emilio as a mentor to first-generation students and an addition to the state of Utah. Congratulations Emilio!
