BRAINERD — Essentia Health is seeking volunteers for multiple facilities in multiple locations.
Volunteer opportunities range from spending time in medical wards and clinics to helping patients tour facilities, stocking, working in the cafeteria and many more.
To ensure the safety and security of patients and staff, volunteers must:
- Come in for a regular weekly two-hour shift.
- Submit for a background check.
- Complete vaccination against covid-19.
- Get vaccinated against the seasonal flu between November and April.
- Be willing to wear a mask and any other personal protective equipment during your shift.
“Volunteers make a huge difference in the lives of our patients,” said Deb Anderson, volunteer supervisor at Essentia Health, in a news release. It’s a safe and meaningful experience to brighten our patients’ days and enrich their lives.
While one doesn’t have to be in school to volunteer, many of the available positions can help students build their education and help medical students decide on areas of focus, Essentia officials said. Volunteering is also important for some graduate programs.
Essentia has immediate openings at locations in the Twin Ports, Northwest Wisconsin, Northwest Minnesota, Iron Range, Brainerd and Fargo.
“Covid-19 has really put a dent in our volunteer pool, and we’re trying hard to rebuild,” Erica Busta, Essentia’s volunteer program manager, said in a news release. There are ample opportunities to get involved in our system and give back to your community through volunteering.
