Fall is my favorite season when it comes to styling. The thought of wrapping up in a cute sweater and swapping out my shoes for chunky boots is a nice change. Local stores in the East End have new merchandise to help update your wardrobe. Here are some simple and practical fall trends to keep your eye on as we head into cooler weather.
Knit sweater Classy turtleneck sweaters, cute cable knit pieces, and mohair cardigans are all mixed in. Sailor stripes look great in a loose knit sweater.
Maxi Coates: Exaggerated sizes play a role in this season. A large, welcoming coat in different colors and textures will keep you warm and stylish.
Oversized pants When it comes down to the bottom, the higher the pant, the better. This trend is so 90’s calling and I love it. Pair a fitted top with a baggy bottom to balance out the look.
Heavy-duty boots; Grunge and punk are back in the form of “strong” boots. Combat, motorcycle and Chelsea boots go with anything – dresses, jeans and trousers.

The fall trends that East Hampton store manager Judy Sprigger is most excited about include: “Fun knitwear, a warm autumn palette and rich pleats make for casual wear.”
Fall pieces you can’t live without: “Double face cashmere outerwear, cashmere sets, and a great selection of tweed blazers. For special occasions, an opera sweater is a must. Each piece is uniquely handcrafted, and the craftsmanship is amazing.
What does a perfect fall day look like in East Hampton? “Nice and clear with a relaxed, sophisticated, small-town vibe.”
