More than 200 businesses will attend a Defense Technology Symposium on Tuesday at Fayetteville Technical Community College. The event is meant to connect innovative companies with military and federal agencies.

Senators Richard Burr and Thom Tillis will attend the event, held at Fayetteville Tech’s Tony Rand Student Center, located at 2201 Hull Road. Walk-ins are welcome, although guests will need to register at the door.

The cost to attend is $15 per person, which includes lunch. Active duty military members and members of the federal government will be admitted free of charge.

At the symposium, businesses will learn about the advanced technology needs of the Department of Defense, including research, development and new product development.

Jared Summers, Chief Technology Officer at Fort Bragg, and General Andrew P. Poppas, Commanding General of the US Army Forces Command, will serve as keynote speakers.

Scott Dorney, executive director of the North Carolina Military Business Center, explained how the symposium will help businesses at home.

“We are very excited — it is a unique opportunity for businesses to connect with people who need and buy new technologies in North Carolina, one day, right here in Fayetteville,” Dorney said.

A portion of the event will also be geared towards helping the businesses connect with Fayetteville Tech students, dependents and veterans.
