Louisiana Tech University’s College of Education (COE) and College of Business (COB) at the United Nations COE’s new lecture series, “Living with Technology. The lecture will take place on Wednesday, September 28 at 3pm in the University Auditorium on the Tech campus. Sponsored by Janet and Justin Hinckley, the event is free and open to the public.
The lecture included finance and economics faculty Dr. William McCumber, associate dean of graduate programs and research, Dr. Patrick Scott, associate professor of economics, and Dr. Nono Gueye, assistant professor of economics. The discussion will focus on cryptography, its flexibility, and how blockchain’s underlying technology is useful in other applications.
“The topics of digital finance and digital currency are prime examples of how our ever-increasing interaction with technology affects our daily lives,” said Dr. Don Schillinger, dean of the College of Education. “As active leaders and participants in society, it is imperative that we all stay informed and knowledgeable about these innovations, intentions, and sometimes disruptive technology-related events.”
The COE collaborates with Louisiana Tech’s other academic colleges to host additional “Living in Technology” classes throughout the year. Each focuses on the impact technology has on everyday life.
“We are especially honored to be partnering with the College of Education for the first time in their new series of courses with a special focus on technology,” said Dr. Chris Martin, dean of the College of Business. “Technology has changed the way we work, live and teach, and it is integrated into every aspect of our curriculum at the College of Business. I know both students and the community will enjoy learning from Drs. McCumber, Scott and Guy.”
