Getting the flu vaccine protects you, your family, and your community. The CDC recommends getting your flu shot before October 31 each year.

Enlisted veterans have several options for getting a no-cost flu shot this year:

  • If you have a future Regular appointment You can get the flu shot at a clinic at any primary care, behavioral health, or specialty clinic with your provider.

  • Through VA Community Care Network.

Flu shots – age 65 and older

The Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP)/CDC has voted to prioritize high-dose flu vaccine or adjuvanted flu vaccine for people 65 years of age and older this year.

At the CDC: “If one of these vaccines is not available at the time of administration, people in this age group should receive standard-dose undiluted flu vaccine instead.”

Eligible veterans can get no-cost flu shots at network retail pharmacies and urgent care clinics through the VA’s Community Care Network (CCN).

If needed, you can get vaccinated for covid at the same time. Flu vaccines are available through CCN September 1, 2022 Through April 30, 2023.
