Barcelona, Spain—Frida ChairmanSunday night’s shootout is the equivalent of the heat the Colorado women’s basketball team is experiencing in Spain. Foreman scored 30 points and helped the Buffaloes beat the Barcelona Stars 71-49.
The Buffs finished the trip 3-0 with one day remaining in Spain before heading home on Tuesday. Colorado has shown signs of improvement throughout the tour, growing as a team over the last week and a half.
“I thought we played really well tonight,” the head coach said. JR Payne Mentioned after victory. “You can see all the newness on the floor, but I thought we played well tonight. We definitely had some different lineups and different looks. We’re starting to draw in games. I’m really happy with how we’ve gone in three games.”
The Buffs opened the night with a 10-0 run that included back-to-back 3s Jada Winn get started. First grade student Briana McLeod He had five points in the quarter and was a perfect 7-for-7 from the free-throw line as the Buffs took a 19-4 lead.
After going scoreless in the first quarter, Foreman got fired up with four 3-pointers in the second. She scored 12 of the team’s 19 points in the second frame, helping the Browns take a 38-17 halftime lead.
Barcelona got within 10 in the third quarter, but Foreman continued to get three more threes in the quarter to take a 22-point lead at the end of the third.
Foreman extended the fourth quarter lead to 29, 65-36, with her 10th 3 of the game in the first four minutes.
“Frieda shot the ball really well tonight,” Payne continued. “But that’s not all. She’s very level-headed. She’s intelligent. She’s confident. She’s outgoing. She does everything you want from a veteran and it’s been great to see her teammates respect her like that.”
Payne added that the experience of being on this trip together brought the team closer in a way that regular practice and team activities never could.
“It was amazing. [this trip]. Everything about him was great. From culture, food, picnics and games. I feel like we create and bond more as a team than we ever could on or off the court. It was an incredible tour.”
Once the buffs are restored, units will be thrown into the mix starting August 22nd, returning to normal activities.
