The Yellow Jackets, meanwhile, threw 20 shutouts after North Carolina after meeting the Tar Heels in the opening round.
Round 2 summary – As Forrester shot a 5-under-par 65, Tech posted a 4-under-par 74. Team leader board – As Tech moved down the leaderboard in the afternoon, 13Th-ranked North Carolina posted the best score of the round, an 8-under-par 272, and finished 36 holes at 10-under-par 550. The Tar Heels, who have four players among the 12 individuals on the leaderboard, are four strokes ahead of No. 3 Stanford (554, -6), who shot a 7-under-par 273 on the afternoon. No. 6 Arizona State, matching North Carolina’s 8-under mark, is third at 557 (-3), No. 25 Pepperdine is fourth at 558 (-2) and No. 7 Texas Tech is fifth. At 559 (-1).
Individual leaderboard – Forrester’s 6-under 134 total is one stroke ahead of Torbornsson, who carded rounds of 69-66 on Monday. David Ford and Austin Grazer of North Carolina, Texas Tech’s Ludwig Aberg and Pepperdine’s William Mou are tied for third at 136 (-4), another shot back.
Competition information – The Yellow Jackets will compete in the Ben Hogan College Invitational for the first time. Hosted by TCU, the tournament consists of 36 holes on Monday with tee shots beginning at 8:15 a.m. Tuesday’s 18-hole round starts at holes 1 and 10 at 8 p.m.
Measuring 7,204 yards and playing a par of 70, the Colonial Club has hosted an annual PGA Tour event since 1946. The club was founded in 1936 and hosted the 1941 US Open, the 1975 Players Championship and the 1991 US Women’s Open. The course sits on the banks of the Trinity River and is less than a mile from the TCU campus.
The Ben Hogan Event includes 14 teams that competed in the 2022 NCAA Championships, including eight that advanced to the playoffs. Thirteen of 16 teams are ranked in the nation’s top 25 according to the Sept. 30 Bushnell/Golfweek coaches poll.
