NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – A Williamson County woman is changing the way women dress in style.

Valarie Troya-Nussbaum is a small business owner. But first, she is a mother of three and a former naval officer.

“I’ve been trained by the military in firearms safety but also firearms use,” Troya-Nussbaum said. “I wanted to protect myself one day and go out into the community and not feel vulnerable.”

That’s when she invented a new concept – a gun case specifically for women. Through her business, Olivia sells a hidden boutique.

Different strategies allow women to carry non-lethal and lethal weapons such as Tasers, pepper spray or guns. Everything is to help them instantly.

“To me, putting it on your body is the safest thing to do because you only have seconds to react,” Troya-Nussbaum said.

The clothes you sell at the boutique have enough pockets so women can hide their gear.

“I wanted to create a line for myself, but also for women like me who don’t want to wear camo all day,” she says.

It’s a new way for women to protect themselves while maintaining their style.

“From moms in bras, to date nights, the office, happy hours, wherever you go,” Troya-Nussbaum said. “Protecting yourself is as easy as putting on your makeup.”

She conducts educational sessions with women on safety and how to protect themselves.
