Washington, March 10, 2023 – The US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) is issuing a public health warning over concerns that a fully cooked, ready-to-eat (RTE) chicken salad product may contain a known allergen, according to the product label. FSIS is issuing this public health warning to inform consumers that these products should not be eaten. A recall is not requested because the products are no longer available for purchase.
The fully cooked, RTE chicken salad products were manufactured on March 4, 2023. The following products are subject to public health warnings. [view label]:
- Clear plastic trays containing “Trader Joe’s Wine Country White Chicken Salad with Cranberries and Pecans” 12-oz. On 3/12/2023 with the best.
Products subject to public health warnings have establishment number “P-34834” in the USDA inspection mark. The product was shipped to retail locations in Idaho, Oregon and Washington.
The problem was discovered when the company reported to FSIS that cash had been found in the chicken salad product after receiving a customer complaint.
There are no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to the consumption of these products. Anyone who is concerned about an illness should contact a health care provider.
FSIS is concerned that some products may remain in consumers’ refrigerators. Consumers who have purchased these products are advised not to use them. These products must be discarded or returned to the place of purchase.
