GULFPORT, Miss. (WLOX) – London fashion is just around the corner, and one Gulfport designer is packing her bags.

Nadine Gentles is the owner of Dorcas Couture in Gulfport. She moved to the coast from Jamaica 21 years ago. Her business is named after her mother, Dorcas, who first taught her how to sew. She says it’s always been her passion since she was a child, and now she’s headed to London Fashion Week where she’s been invited to represent our region internationally.

Gentlemen will be showing 15 pieces on Saturday. Her collection titled “Bloom” has a black and white theme with subtle shades of blue and orange.

“When I start creating my pieces one by one, it’s like he’s telling me, he’s showing me that I have it in me to put my pieces out there,” she said. “And this is one thing – I have something to say, and it’s said in every single one of my clothes. It tells a different story.

They believe sewing is a valuable skill for everyone. That’s why she offers sewing classes at her studio on Bypass Road.
