The Alabama Chamber of Commerce has announced that Helena Duncan has been selected as the organization’s new president and CEO. Duncan is BCA’s first black president.

She came to BCA in 2020 with over 30 years of experience in the financial industry, primarily at an executive management level. Prior to her role with BCA, Duncan was regional president of Liberty Bank & Trust. She joined BCA as director of strategic operations and growth, and was most recently senior vice president of operations and investor relations.

“Helena Duncan has the experience, talent and attitude to effectively lead the BCA and enhance its role as Alabama’s business voice,” said BCA Chairman Mike Kemp. “She is an experienced businessperson who has worked with many businesses. She speaks the language of business. Her leadership qualities, management experience and work ethic will be valuable assets to BCA as we shape our future course.

“I am honored to be selected and entrusted with the responsibility of leading such a prestigious organization,” said Duncan. “I look forward to implementing our strategic plan developed over the past year. My previous roles at BCA have given me a strong knowledge of the organization and our members. As we begin this new chapter, our priority is to focus our efforts on vigorous, effective advocacy on behalf of our members at the Montgomery and federal levels.”

For the past year and a half, Robin Stone has led the BCA as interim executive director.

“Robin has provided efficient and effective leadership during his tenure at BCA,” said Kemp. “During his tenure, BCA has achieved success in all areas of our organization and we are grateful for his contributions. We look forward to his continued support.”

Duncan was named a Lowhammer “2022 Woman of Influence” for her influential role and contributions to businesses and communities across Alabama. She was board chair of St. James School and a board member of the Montgomery Chamber of Commerce and Child Protection. She is a board member of the Dixie Electric Cooperative, YMCA, Montgomery Committee of 100 and the Oversight Committee of 100, and Synoves Bank.

Duncan married Clarence Duncan; They have two sons, CJ and Colin.

The Alabama Chamber of Commerce is a nonpartisan, statewide trade association representing the interests and concerns of nearly 1 million Alabamians through its partnerships with member companies and the Alabama Chamber of Commerce.
