What to know
After two games on the road, the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets return home. The Yellow Jackets and Duke Blue Devils face off in the ACC Battle at 4pm ET Saturday at Bobby Dodd Stadium at historic Grant Field. Georgia Tech isn’t expected to win, but seeing as the odds didn’t stop them last game, maybe the team has another upset.
Georgia Tech didn’t have much breathing room in last week’s game against the Pittsburgh Panthers, but they still came away with a 26-21 win. Georgia Tech’s success was led by RB Hasson Hall, who picked up 157 yards on 20 carries and QB Jeff Sims, who rushed for one TD and 102 yards on 26 attempts for one TD and 81 yards. That fine footwork was evident when Hall hit the 100-yard rushing mark for the first time this season.
Most of the team’s points came courtesy of special teams, which contributed 17. K Gavin Stewart had a perfect 4-for-4 game.
Meanwhile, Duke made easy work of the Virginia Knights last week, beating them 38-17. The opponents were on Duke’s side, but they didn’t give the team enough credit as the margin was unexpectedly wide. In addition to running for two TDs and 58 yards, Duke QB Riley Leonard had a career passing for one TD and 129 yards on 24 attempts.
The wins saw the Yellow Jackets beat the Yellow Jackets 2-3 and the Blue Jackets 4-1. Georgia Tech is 0-1 this season after beating Duke 2-1.
