Jackets upset Catamounts in home opener, 35-17 – Football – Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets

After Western Carolina drove 89 yards on five plays on the opening drive, Tech found itself down 7-0. The Jackets responded with a 9-play, 72-yard rally capped by Smith’s TD to tie the score. The Catamounts took the lead on their next possession, moving 78 yards in seven plays for a 14-7 advantage, but Tech answered again with a 77-yard drive in four plays, the last of which was a 51-yard TD run by Smith.

Western Carolina until the beginning of the fourth quarter on a 44-yard field goal, the Jackets added a third Smith rushing TD and one. Nettie McCollum in the second quarter and another in a Dylan McDuffie run in the third.
