John Bartlett joins the new School for Executive and Professional Studies as Fashion Director.

The New School’s Department of Continuing and Professional Education has announced that John Bartlett will become Director of Applied and Professional Studies in Fashion. The award-winning designer and sustainability advocate will officially launch his career on July 10, 2023.

In his new role, Bartlett will lead CPE Fashion Executive Education, curriculum development, industry outreach and strategic partnerships, and teaching and learning for Parsons Executive Education and Luxury Management and Design Innovation (EMILUX) with ESSEC Business School. It guides and enhances CPE’s multidisciplinary approach to fashion, design-thinking and innovation for seasoned professionals, entrepreneurs and those new to the industry.

“The challenges we face in business and society today are on a planetary scale. How we teach design innovation by equipping the next generation of leaders with imagination and tenacity is central to our new school’s mission,” said CPE Vice Provost and Academic Dean Dr. Mariana Amatulo. He brings a unique perspective and set of experiences to education and sustainable practices that will underpin our unique approach to teaching and learning and help place our programs in the context of lifelong learning at the forefront of fashion education. I am excited to work with Parsons School of Fashion to expand our offerings and empower our participants with the skills and tools, growth and creative confidence to drive change in their organizations.

A certified designer, Bartlett brings over thirty years of fashion industry experience to the new school. His eponymous collection “John Bartlett” won the ‘Swarovski Best Newcomer Award’ and ‘Menswear Designer of the Year’ in 1997 from the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA). From the American Footwear and Apparel Association (AAFA) He has worked exclusively with recycled or organic materials for over a decade and promotes the use of earth-friendly alternatives derived from animals such as leather, wool and down.
