How much does it cost to play a round of golf with the Illini athletes?
In this case $1200 for a group of four.
This includes green fees, use of a golf cart, boxed lunch, course break, dinner meet and greet with players, and a donation to the Illini Guardians group with name/image/match link.
In the year On August 26, the Urbana Country Club will host the inaugural Neal Golf Open, featuring several prominent Illinois athletes and coaches. A ticket pays for four golfers, who are paired with one Illini.
“Any profit from the event is going directly to the Illini guards and their athletes,” said Jenna Koss, director of sales for Campus Inc. All players will be compensated for their appearances.
Who can a group match? One of Illini basketball’s Luke Goode, Coleman Hawkins, Brandon Lieb, Sky Clark, Matthew Meyer or coach Brad Underwood, or Illini golf’s Tommy Kuhl, TJ Barger and Jackson Buchanan. And there’s a lot to look forward to, Kos said.
The last day to register and pay is August 22. As of Thursday, there are still a few group spots left.
The event is presented by the Illini Guardians, a campus color, name, image, image imprint and NIL fundraiser, which compensates Illinois student-athletes for overworked contracts.
“Golf is something we thought we could do to help get members of the community involved with the athletes,” said Lindsay Quick, who works on community engagement at Campus Inc.
The apparel store has created a local name, image and logo, creating custom merchandise and managing student-athlete brands. The business partnered with Gameday Spirit to create jerseys with players’ names on them and sell them in stores and at athletic venues such as the State Farm Center.
On July 29, Campus Paint hosted a “birthday party” for Clark, a new guard who signed autographs for fans to attend.
“The NIL has completely changed our business, it’s a great way to show support for our student-athletes,” Koss said. “We want to dive into it head first and get these athletes as much money as we can.”
