Lexus is known for releasing one-off games in collaboration with artists and fashion designers. The latest example is a special Lexus RX created by fashion designer Harris Reed with a collection of “Ruby Red Rims” inspired by Dorothy’s ruby red slippers in “The Wizard of Oz.”
The Lexus RX “Ruby Red Rims” concept wheels light up with the help of LEDs with a solid aluminum back and a glossy finish. Also filling the SUV’s wheel arches, the center caps are shaped after a ruby core. And a large number of fins with helical shapes, which turn off the light that changes colors.

According to Harris Reid, Dorothy’s ruby red slippers in the popular fantasy novel are an interpretation of “choosing your own path and following a new journey down the red brick road.” “As a gender fluid designer, I am always inspired and inspired by taking the road less traveled,” the fashion designer added.
Although this particular Lexus RX doesn’t stray too far off the beaten path with its massive, seemingly indestructible shiny shoes, it looks unique in its own right. Apart from the new set of wheels, the SUV also gets a custom livery with red-painted front and black-painted tail, as well as “Ruby Red Rims” lettering on the front doors.
The design of the wheels was also inspired by the two signature helmets in the Red Spring 2023 collection. The one-off Lexus RX with “Ruby Red Rims” debuted at W Magazine’s 50th anniversary party in New York and will make additional appearances across the US in 2022 and 2023.
