BOZEMAN – Logan Health has signed a letter of intent with philanthropists Mark and Robin Jones to donate land to Montana State University for a $101 million investment in a new nursing education building in Kalispell.
“We are excited to participate in this investment in education for our future nurses. There is no better training than learning with highly qualified, experienced nurses at Logan Health, and we are honored to host nursing students from many programs in the state,” said Logan Health Medical Center President and Chief Nursing Officer. “This new facility will help increase the number of graduate nurses, which will help us better serve our patients,” said April McGauley.
In the year In August 2021, Mark and Robin Jones announced a $101 million philanthropic investment for Montana State University to build new, larger, state-of-the-art educational facilities on five campuses of the College of Nursing in Bozeman, Billings, Great. Falls, Kalispell and Missoula. This investment will provide the first opportunity to acquire university-owned facilities in Billings, Great Falls, Kalispell and Missoula, which currently use leased facilities.
MSU College of Nursing, now named Mark and Robin Jones College of Nursing, offers baccalaureate, master’s, and doctorate-educated nurses, but has been unable to significantly increase the number of graduates due to limited space. With Jones’ philanthropic investment providing new facilities in five cities across the state, the college aims to fill the state’s nursing shortage by 2030.

Logan Health will provide land for the new Nursing Education Building, located on the north side of the Kalispell campus.

- Establish a scholarship fund to keep the cost of nursing education at MSU’s College of Nursing affordable for all students.
- Support development of MSU’s certified nurse midwife program, the first and only program in the state, to prepare doctorate-level nurses to significantly increase the number of specialized maternal health care providers qualified and willing to provide specialized maternal care. Logan Health is a not-for-profit, 603-bed health system based in Kalispell. The main medical campus is located in Flathead County and Logan Health’s total service area covers 13 counties, nearly 40,000 square miles and a population of over 600,000. Founded in 1937, Montana State University’s Mark and Robin Jones College of Nursing provides Montana with bachelor’s, accelerated bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral level nursing education to develop nurses, nurse leaders, nurse educators, and nurse practitioners. Great Falls was the first site to offer upper division, clinical nursing education, followed by the establishment of the Billings Nursing Campus in 1939, the Missoula Campus in 1976, and the Kalispell Campus in 2002. Nursing majors have taken prerequisite courses at MSU in Bozeman since 1937. Upper division or clinical nursing education was first offered at the Bozeman campus in 2004.
