Ruston, La. (KNOE) – A new program is taking flight at Louisiana Tech University.
The school has partnered with Aviate, United Airlines’ pilot career development program, to train pilots in the school’s professional aviation department.
“We know the need for qualified pilots is greater than ever and we have a great pipeline here,” said Louisiana Tech President Dr. Les Guise.
If accepted, eligible students will learn tech skills and then transfer to United’s regional partners.
“We partner with Mesa, Air Wisconsin, CommuteAir and GoJet,” explained Justin Cannon, who works with Aviate. After some time with the university, you arrive at UAX and it’s your golden ticket to the United flight deck.
As part of the program, students will have access to United flight simulators, training courses and one-on-one instruction.
“How wonderful is it to be paired with an active United pilot as an aviator? The person you call when you have a question,” explained Capt. Monica Frain. Someone who can help you decide which regional partner is best for you.
Dr. Geiss is committed to hiring more instructors for Louisiana Tech’s professional aviation department.
