For more than two years, states have kept their Medicaid enrollees eligible for enhanced federal Medicaid funding under the Families First Coronavirus Response Act, leading to substantial coverage increases for all Americans, including pregnant and postpartum individuals.
When the federal Medicaid continuous coverage requirement ends, states will redetermine eligibility for all Medicaid enrollees, including the approximately 1.7 million enrolled in Medicaid or the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) pregnancy eligibility group.
