MEDINA, Ohio – Medina County Health Commissioner Krista Wasowski spoke about her department’s upcoming tax renewal at this week’s city council meeting.

“Have Medina County Health — that’s what your health department is asking you to do for the next 10 years, just like we’ve done for the last 100 years,” Wasowski said.

“We have many residents who use our services and we have many residents who need us. … So renewing the levy on Nov. 8 ensures that the Department of Health continues to protect children, families, seniors and individuals.”

He pointed out that the 0.7-mill, 10-year levy is just a renewal, not a tax increase. It is also a limited cost tax, which means it is not affected by property value assessments in the county. In other words, if the levy is approved, taxpayers will not pay more.

“I’m just asking you to vote yes, and I’m asking everyone in the audience tonight to vote yes for tax renewal,” Wasowski said.
