Victoria-based Mercy Health has implemented a cloud-based clinical document integrity workflow tool on 3M Health Information Systems to improve its document review and workflow processes.
As a health IT provider, this is the first time the 3M*modal CDI collaboration has been implemented in Australia.
This tool uses AI and natural language understanding to analyze the entire digital patient record and provide insights to improve document accuracy. It also uses clinical reasoning and context understanding to see what is in the record and what isn’t, saving clinicians hours of manual review. Additionally, it streamlines the inquiry workflow by automatically generating supporting evidence sheets for enquiries.
Why is it important?
Mercy Health, which operates two hospitals in Melbourne, is a long-term user of 3M Codefinder and 3M Core Grouping Software. Recently, he established a CDI program with the aim of capturing accurate representation of patient segments in their medical records. Through this program, the role of the CDI specialist is provided with associated objective measures related to the activity.
The organization reached out to 3M for a solution to assess the sustainability and long-term outcomes of its CDI program. He wanted the solution to help the CDI teams become more efficient with their time and focus their workload on the areas with the highest impact.
According to the release, 3M CDI Collaboration provides a user interface where Mercy Health CDI specialists can collaborate on patient chart reviews and document actions taken to address gaps in documentation. Integrates with 3M Codefinder to enable users to quickly generate and store source information, which can be compared with code information. Additionally, the integrated reporting module on this CDI tool allows Mercy Health to use captured data to provide visibility into results and productivity metrics and drive continuous improvement in their documentation improvement efforts.
The biggest trend
Last year, fellow Victorian health organization Alfred Health also adopted a 3M CDI solution to improve documentation and streamline processes. He implemented that 3M 360 Encompass System Integrated and automated CDI, clinical coding of medical records and performance tracking across all facilities.
